“I’m excited to embark on this new chapter with a4 Literary and this stellar crew” says Heifetz. “The name was inspired by the dimensions of an A4 page. As agents, we often see the first version of a book as a document or manuscript – it’s where we first encounter a writer, idea, or story, and feel that spark of potential.” Heifetz has worked as an agent for over a decade representing some of Australia's most critically and commercially acclaimed writers.

Gilliatt, whose roles in publishing prior to becoming an agent include director of non-fiction publishing at Pan Macmillan and publishing director at Allen & Unwin, says “a4 Literary will work together as a true collective; our new agency makes its agents’ combined experience and skills available to all of its authors, regardless of which individual agent they sign up with.”

McGuire, a former artistic director of Melbourne Writers Festival and Sydney Writers’ Festival, says “It’s a privilege to be working with colleagues and partners who not only believe in the collective success of our authors, but who are future-proofing the industry and ensuring that Australian writers continue to have access to the best representation for many more years to come.”

Slater, formerly of Left Bank Literary, the Stella Prize, and Allen & Unwin says, “I’m thrilled to be stepping into this new role with a4 Literary to champion Australian stories to readers both at home and abroad. We are already hard at work preparing for London Book Fair next March where we cannot wait to reveal a4’s list to our international colleagues.”

a4 Literary represents writers and creators of all genres and voices for publication across all formats. a4 Literary also sells rights into the US, UK and all major translation markets as well as stage, television and film.
